Originally limited in press run number (about 500) and distributed free through the magazine distributors and bookshops. It is signed in the print with copyright notice by 'R. Crumb Productions' in lower right.Earth Island magazine published this poster in the fall of 1970 from the same Zipatone originals created for the cover art by R. Crumb during a stay in Chicago. Minor Zipatone separation prior to negatives being created for the poster yield a small difference to the area 'underfoot'.
Of the 500 which were originally printed, many were shipped folded in quarter along with magazines. Some which were never been folded, or rolled, exhibit a slight dimpling in the lower right leaf border just above the yellow banner bar. . . the hallmark of the cache from the one package that was never shipped.
The Zipatone seam shows in the upper left corner through the 5 in 50 ... his supplies were dwindling.
