This new giclée edition is based upon Crumb's newspaper cover he illustrated for The Mendocino Grapevine (1973-1986). Crumb illustrated everything here, including the masthead. It was originally released as a black and white drawing for the newspaper cover. We released a black and white etching of this illustration in 2007. But for its 50th year anniversary, Crumb colored the image and we now have a beautiful giclée edition to commemorate Crumb's tree-hugger and the ongoing fight to preserve our forests. The Somerset Velvet archival paper is 17.5 inches wide by 24 inches tall. The edition was printed with Epson Ultrachrome archival inks. The image is 13.5 inches x 18 inches. There are 300 prints in the edition, each one of them hand-numbered. Each print sells for $80.In the early to mid 1970's, Crumb did several front page illustrations for the Mendocino County, California newspaper Mendocino Grapevine. This one is from February, 1973.
