Tales from the Tube was originally a bound-in insert to the Feb. 1972 issue of SURFER. However, a number of copies were printed separately from the magazine and were sold separately. They have their own staples and they show none of the damage that can result from being torn out of a magazine.
20 pages, magazine-size, black & white with color outside coversWilson did the inside front cover and Crumb did the inside back cover The comic was originally bound in as an insert in the Feb 1972 issue of Surfer Magazine. Copies from the magazine are typically torn from being removed, although some were printed separately and not bound in, so they lack the damage typically found on the insert version. Later, a smaller comic-size version was produced by Print Mint. This version has a 50-cent price printed on the cover, right below "No. 1". The reprint version lacks the price indication.
