Withers was born Edward Oscar Withers in Wellington, New Zealand. He studied at Wellington College, the Royal Academy and Slade School in London, and the Academie Julian in Paris. Withers worked for Columbia Pictures in Los Angeles in the 1930's and early 1940's and won many medals and first prizes in local shows. He died in Los Angeles, California. Contact
