Burchell, Leigh Ann

Leigh Ann Valentine Burchell graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the first art school in America, located in Philadelphia. Majoring in printmaking and minoring in painting she extensively studied the figure and anatomy in both humans and animals through years of drawing from life. While attending the academy she was honored with the Toppan Drawing Award, also a recipient, alumni, Mary Cassatt. She also possesses an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design from The Art Institute in Colorado.

Burchell has exhibited around the country in such cities as Denver, Philadelphia, Tallahassee, Miami, Boston , New York and New Mexico.

Her favorite medium are woodcuts. Her favorite subject matter are figurative and animals. She is concerned with a variety of important issues including global warming, endangered animals and the environment. Her work can be seen on the web at www.paintedvalentine.com.
