ink and graphite on illustration boardSupposedly, OP-1 is a full 18x24, whereas, OP-2 was slightly undercut at 17.75x23.75. The shows took place immedietely after the final Grateful Dead shows at Red Rocks.
The story behind the print is as follows: Telluride is a small town surrounded on three sides by mountains. There is one road in and out. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid robbed the 1st bank in Telluride and high-tailed it out of town by escaping over the mountains on horseback. To commemorate this, artist Steve Johannsen modified the famous gang photo with classic Dead imagery.
