For most of my life I've lived by Lake Erie, when I was in high school we lived right on the lake, it was our back yard. My friends and I would ride dirt bikes and snow mobiles on it when it would be frozen two feet thick. the lake doesn't freeze like that anymore, it still freezes, but not as solid due to global climate change.
This piece is inspired by the lake during winter at night. The vastness, the contrast of the water appearing black against the white of the ice. It has a desolate feel, that's almost inviting you to walk out on it, to take a swim.
