The full title/caption for this print is: "Just As They Bent Down to Take the Rose, a Big Dense Snowdrift Came and Carried Them Away," is one of 25 full-colored lithographed plates from the story "The Three Princesses in the Blue Mountains" from Kay Nielsen’s book; "East of the Sun and West of the Moon," originally published in the UK in 1914, although the illustrations slightly predate the publication. A collection of fifteen Norwegian folk and fairy tales selected from the Asbjörnsen and Moe book, "Norske Folkeeventyr," "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" is the English incarnation of these classic stories. Several US and UK editions exist, the first printings represent the best quality lithographed images while subsequent editions in 1922 and 1977 utilize either offset-lithograph or another book printing methods.
