The All Union Spartakiada, was a Soviet equivalent of a national Olympic Games. This poster was commissioned as a set of post-cards as well for the games, which opened in Moscow on 12 August 1928. The cards were commissioned by the Supreme Council of Physical Culture and included several other events. This is a typical example of Klustis's use of the photomontage that was so prevalent and definitive in his Constructivist works. The original was created with colored paper, collaged photographs and gouache-on-paper, on card board.
