"Snowy egrets are a beautiful species of heron native to North America. In the 1880's they were highly sought after for the women's hat industry, and their numbers suffered greatly. They have made somewhat of a comeback, but now are threatened by habitat loss. They use their wispy, ethereal, long plumes in spectacular mating displays. I did this painting with watercolor, white ink, and india ink on beautiful robin's egg blue, handmade Twinrocker watercolor paper." - Diana Sudyka
