Matthew Katz, the Airplane's original manager, scheduled the band to play at the San Francisco Republican Alliance election eve meeting at San Francisco's Sheraton-Palace Hotel. Singer Signe Anderson missed this show because she had just given birth to her daughter. This show was the band's first without founding member Skip Spence, and their first with drummer Spencer Dryden.
