Originally, the event was to be held outside Paris, but French authorities would not issue a permit. Thus, it was moved to Belgian soil, and held at Mont de I'Enclus in Amougies, Belgium.
Frank Zappa was M.C. Zappa also made many guest appearances, including playing with Pink Floyd, Blossom Toes, Archie Shepp and Aynsley Dunbar.
The festival was professionally filmed by Jerome Laperrousaz, and the film was to be released as "Music Power." Due to various band objections, mainly Pink Floyd, whose permission had not been properly obtained, the film was never officially released.
