MAR & CEDRIC ('AT THE DRIVE-IN' Concept Sketch)

"My original idea for the 2000 AT THE DRIVE-IN concert poster was to have a very bold, intense image featuring the entire band. I began the process of working on 'face shots' with Omar and Cedric (Oddly enough, when the band dissolved and 'split', Omar & Cedric stayed together and formed the band THE MARS VOLTA, while the remaining 3 members formed SPARTA). After this preliminary sketch, I switched gears...and eventually settled on a much more 'abstract' idea. This sketch is all that remains from that original idea of a 'band image'." -JR
