Paper size 24x22, image size 22x20"The northern light or Aurora Borealis is often seen as a manifestation of the Holy People (Diyin Dine'é), supernatural beings who guide and protect the Navajo. It can symbolize their presence, like the ancestors in the sky, offering guidance or marking sacred occurrences. 2024 had some very strong phenomena of Aurora Borealis in Arizona and New Mexico. It was incredible to witness. I wanted to bring this in a painting featuring Eli Secody. Here the rider is both an apparition of an ancestor coming to communicate with a present person and a present person coming to communicate with the ancestors through the stars and the northern light. He is inviting you to come to this place of beauty, to step in a magical world that is the Diné country in Arizona."
