From Chase Art: "The Singing Cats serigraph comes with a matching numbered limited edition book entitled The Art of Dr. Seuss. This major retrospective on the art and life of Ted Geisel is filled with Seuss history and intrigue along with some of the most significant illustrations, paintings and sculptures of his lifetime.
The original Singing Cats artwork was included in the 1986 Dr. Seuss San Diego Museum exhibition, and was an early concept drawing for the Cat In The Cat Songbook. The Cat In The Hat is an historically significant turning point for the world of children's literacy. Upon it's release in 1957, it rocked the world of Dick and Sally reading primers and changed the way generations of children would learn to read. It was written using the 220 words prescribed at the time for first grade primers. This book was so successful, Random House created a new Book Division, Beginner Books, and made Theodor Seuss Geisel president. He later founded the Bright and Early Book Division."
