This is Selkie, the brand new art print we just finished printing here at Malleusdelic headquarters. It's a 10 color handpulled silkscreen on black paper with a lot of metallic and shimmering inks. It's a limited edition of only 70 copies dedicated to Selkie, a mythological creature that is able to change from seal to human form by shedding its skin. Selkies come from folk-tales from the Northern Isles of Scotland which revolve around these mythological creatures being coerced into relationships with humans who steal and hide their sealskin. Once they find their skin, Selkies may return to the sea, their coveted world.
Malleus designed the original artwork years ago for a whisky label from the House of MacDuff, a small family distillery based in Renfrew, Scotland.
First released during the TRPS MysteryTube event on January 24, 2021 live on Zoom. The Malleus trio, who appeared live from Italy, gave away two doodled copies of Selkie during the show.
