I've longed to pair Gustav Klimt's dreamy romantic vibes with Robert Smith's words. There's something about the expressive figures he paints that make their desires and emotions known to viewers. The Cure's music and words have also been powerfully evocative throughout the entirety of my life. When I hear the sparkling twinkle of the wind chimes at the start of 'Plainsong' the hair on my arms stands up. The imagery here is a blend of Klimt's 'The Kiss' and 'Tree of Life' with a pair of lovecats replacing the people. I had a full mood board of his paintings on my desktop and tried to carry over some of the unique patterning, textures and colors into the art. Klimt himself was a known cat lover and was reported to have 8 cats who roamed freely throughout his studio. There's actually a whole interesting sub genre of art under Klimt cats of people interpreting felines in his style.
