"The great thing about illustrations like this is the freedom of creativity, similar to a band gig poster. However, I always try to give a sense of place where the event is taking place. After that I usually take my influence from vintage travel and advertising art - in this case is was racing. Mash that up with some soap box derby action to create some movement and drama and we have the result."
