From breathtaking stop-motion animation to bittersweet modern fairy tales, filmmaker (animator, writer, director, producer) Tim Burton is known for his unique visual brilliance that is both witty and macabre all at once. He is the creative genius behind:
Frankenweenie (1984)
Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)
Beetle Juice (1988)
Batman (1989)
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Batman Returns (1992)
Ed Wood (1994)
Mars Attacks! (1996)
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Planet of the Apes (2001)
Big Fish (2003)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Corpse Bride (2005)
In several of these films Burton used his and then girlfriend actress/model Lisa Marie's pet Chiuahua "Poppy." This print is of a painting Burton did of Poppy as "Frankenweenie."
This lithograph was printed by master printer Toby Michel of Angeles Press from film separations created from an original painting by the artist. Subsequently, each color was printed from a photo-positive plate by hand.
