Words from the artist:

In 2012, I spent a month in south Africa painting critically endangered species on walls. The way I painted back then was a little different to now, but it was the start of my interest in specifically identifying species on the brink of extinction. According to the mountain gorilla census there are about 1000 mountain gorillas left in the wild, of which over a third live in the Virunga National Park. The eastern lowland gorilla has a population of 4000. Just as a point of comparison Wembley stadium, the second largest stadium in Europe, England's national stadium has a 90,000-capacity (105,000 combined seating and standing). If I do the maths here – you could comfortably fit the combined gorilla species population ‘seated’ into Wembley stadium 18 times.

This release is so, so important, we must protect what is precious to our planet’s richness. Biodiversity is fundamental to even humanities survival. The hand finished edition titled – “We’re Stuffed – Pomissa Futurium” (a promised future) will be donated to the Virunga National Park. These guys are protecting the rainforest that the gorillas live in, from the birds to the lions, elephants and the gorillas. They face conflict with land grabbing by fossil fuel giants, civil war, poaching, bush meat hunting, and now even covid. If you haven’t already, check out the Virunga documentary on Netflix.

Thanks for buying my work, listening to my research and supporting what I believe is truly important. ONE LOVE
