For her edition with The Song Cave, Tauba Auerbach has gone all out. Metal upon metal, upon metal. Utilizing the close-up pattern of a woven metal fabric, Tauba ran the image through a custom “metallic” digital filter. The staunch metal-ness of the imagery exists in complete opposition to the incredible delicacy of the material that she has chosen to have the image printed on, a Duralar film (which has a super-thin sheet of aluminum vacuum deposited into its surface) with a reflective, mirror-like appearance, whose incredibly fragile rippling and lightness make it nearly ethereal.
