Released 12th August 2020.For the first time since 2015, Smith has altered and re-worked his 'colour-chip aesthetic' to produce a new look to his hugely recognisable & idiosyncratic style.
For his new work, Smith set about removing the white line featured on each 'chip', which is synonymous with the look of Pantone colour swatches, instead he now incorporates the unique text featured in each artwork directly into the colourblock and plays with the fade - 0%, 50% & 100% - with each amount representing just how apparent the white bar is on each colour chip.
The result makes the piece appear more pixelised and distorted and yet somehow appearing cleaner to the viewer.
It's a seemingly small, but significant & mighty alteration.
