After years of being absolutely obsessed with owls this beautiful, colourful and, last but by no means least, sinister fellow marks the start of a brand new passion.
Everything about this bird was a joy to discover and portray, I'm always amazed at the huge variation of physiology and feathers between species of birds and the Heron family are so utterly different to anything I've painted before it felt like quite the voyage of discovery. A voyage I'm already excited to go on again!
This fellow has been carefully rendered in oils nestled within a midnight black background. He has been painted on a museum standard hand made Birch panel measuring 11.5" round.
