Archival Giclee Print
Awagami Bamboo Paper

Impermanence is a fundamental part of the way the world is, this seems to be the great mercy and the great burden we all are subjected too. I think it is true that a large amount of our suffering is born from our attachment to the way things are, we are trying to hold on against the inevitable tide of change. It's one thing to let go of old broken down possessions or habits, but our strongest attachments are to one another. I wanted to make something to express and honour the universal experience of being unable to hold on. The pain and sadness of loss is in direct proportion to the love we are blessed to feel, and ultimately that is what this drawing means to me. I have immense gratitude for the love in my life and am willing to pay the price.
