I just returned from two weeks of teaching at Penland School of Crafts, in the hills of north-western North Carolina. This is my third stint at Penland, and I had a blast. My class worked long hours, and every night I walked back to my cabin in the dark, long after midnight. My route took me past the Knoll, a clear, grassy hilltop in an otherwise deeply wooded area. Shining my flashlight out over the dozens of acres, I'd see many pairs of eyes peering back at me through the dark, and I'd hope that they were deer, though bears are apparently not uncommon. I made this tiny print of differentiated mammals for a small print trade we did within the class.
