Oil on linen"The painting can be appreciated on different levels of perception. If you want to just look at it, it’s visually striking and engaging. If you like to delve deeper into the conceptual makeup of artworks, this painting will offer those viewers their own trail of interpretation... with a commonality that can be experienced with the help of the title, “The Deep Dilemma”... what am I referencing? Well, the dilemma of identities, the “to be or not to be” question for the contemporary human. Who are we supposed to be? What’s the best version... for society, spirituality, mental health?

Do we allow our demons to be put on a pedestal locked away? Or do we embrace all of what we are, is that the road to the true self? Carl Jung references “the shadow” as an inferiority within us that we recognize as a deficiency in someone else.. what happens when we embrace all of our components, accepting what we are... do we then accept others more easily? The dark side has been repressed by society... but when it’s ignored within we become imbalanced. When it’s ignored it comes out irrationally in inconceivable ways. It is about time we start looking into the shadows of our beings, where we can make peace and beauty with our demons... before they break free into a hellish and rebellious rage." -- Dangler
