Kraftwerk ‘Trans-Europe Express’
Join us during July as we will feature one of our favourite bands of all time Kraftwerk and their seminal album ‘Trans-Europe Express’ which turns forty in 2017.
The album is structured around the concept of a train moving across a continent that was rapidly becoming borderless and digital. Forty years later this theme is as relevant as ever in a world dominated by social media and the internet and while the concept of a European community is being challenged.
Kraftwerk’s trademark electronic beats are at their cleanest here, while the glacial tones and angelic backing vocals have never since resonated with such purity; and let’s not forget this is one of the root sources of hip-hop, thanks to Afrika Bambaataa’s appropriation of the “metal on metal†section of the title track for the seminal “Planet Rockâ€.
Astonishingly fresh and as important as ever we cannot wait to hear this album on our legendary audiophile soundsystems.
