"This piece is part of a series of Nocturnes I've been working on this year, I felt compelled to create this body of work during a time which I felt great fear at the shift in political landscapes, it truly felt like the dawn of a dark future, so I wanted to surround myself with creatures comfortable and most confident in darkness. They became my familiars as I struggled to understand and navigate the new landscape. Each of these pieces mean a tremendous amount to me, they have very much been my sanctuary this last year, and as they fly and flutter off to their new homes I know they will take with them their protective presence and all my love." - Foley
