Oil on canvas"This piece is part of an ongoing series I've been working on wherein I paint astronauts wandering around looking at stuff. It's something I've been doing for pretty much my entire career. I made this particular painting for LAX/DTW II, which is the first show I've ever had in Detroit, and I wanted to include something related to the heritage and history of the region. I often make paintings that are as much about the past as they are the future, and it seems to me that Detroit is a place simultaneously taking a good look both forward and backwards." - Scott Listfield
