-- THIS INCIDENT --
A man named Tashi Brown was killed in Las Vegas in the early morning on Sunday, May 14th. Initially, he approached police officers in a casino looking for help, perhaps suffering from an episode of mental illness, telling the police he was being followed. As someone who has been around a great deal of mental illness, I understand how the police could have been disoriented by Brown’s behavior, but their response shows a profound lack of understanding and training. The man appeared to be trying to cooperate while the officers repeatedly shocked and punched him. In the end his death seems to have been delivered by a chokehold that is not approved for use by police. For more information, read the article here.

Jose Posada created many pieces with only skeletons as characters. This is a powerful tool inspired by the renaissance motifs, memento mori (remember death) and Danse Macabre. It reminds us of the mortality of everyone and that we are all the same as skeletons.
-- CHANCE THE RAPPER’S WORDS --
The song “Everybody’s Something†just might be a masterpiece. It’s message is very simple, “nobody’s nothingâ€! One of the reasons that this song (and most of Chance The Rapper’s work) resonates so well is that his heavily intellectual lyrics are delivered with a voice that describes so much emotional texture and complexity. The part in this song about “cops†describes such overwhelming frustration and hurt.
