The Rise and Fall of Bill

13"x 9" image size, signed giclee print

Pictured , are two portraits of Bill.

One as a young man at the turn of the century in 1897. He has a twinkle in his eye and a spring in his step. He has his whole life ahead of him. He spends his days collecting buttons and lint while living in the hole by the washroom and his evenings relaxing with his favorite mushroom tonic. The other image is a "mug shot" taken after he was arrested in 1949 trying to steal a Hormel delivery truck. When the Volstead Act was enacted in 1919, mushroom tonic became difficult to acquire. Bill discovered SPAM, a canned meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation in 1937 had a similar psychotropic effects as mushroom tonic. He became addicted to the salt content. His face became swollen and he lost the use of his olfactory sensory antenna.
