This full-bleed poster is for the April, 1970 American premiere of producer Iain Quarrier's cut of the film, an edited version that significantly altered Godard's vision of the picture. The movie had no distributor in the United States, but a theater owner in Ann Arbor wanted to exhibit the film. With no promotional materials available for the picture, the exhibitor, who had some experience in poster production, decided to create his own piece for the movie. Originally, a press run of around 100 copies of the silkscreen were produced, but today only a few have survived.
