"This one is called “Now you’re losing.†During SDCC the Mondo crew set up a shuffleboard tournament in the downstairs hotel bar. Once it started, I went from tipsy goofball to cold-eyed Cillian Murphy much to the surprise of folks who never experienced my shuffleboard game face before. I’ve found this personality shift can be unsettling for folks I’m competing against, but it’s a hard mode to shake off.
I played really well, but my partner Bryan Brooks (aka Mr. Stone) was Kareem with the pucks. We shifted positions in the final round which was a pretty tight cinematic game. I got confused and thought my final slide lost us the game so I went outside to smoke. However Bryan still had one shot left and clinched the victory with some crazy shot that seemed to change with each person’s description of it. Justin Brookhart rushed out to tell me the news and I came in for victory hugs. I coldy congratulated everyone on their play. Justin commented, “I really thought you’d be worse at winning.†Something clicked at that comment so I decided to be a poor winner for a few minutes mainly towards JB, Eric, and Mitch Putnam. JB’s subsequent response provides the title of the piece." -- Rob Jones
