"“If you’re so fucking smart, why do you act so fucking stupid.†That’s a quote from an upperclassman delivered to me in my old high school halls. He didn’t say it with a smile, but it was a fair enough observation.
One aspect of my personality exacerbated by age that’s stunted my intellectual growth concerns my reluctance to experience new things. For example, the book I’m holding here, Seutonius’ “The Twelve Caesars†is one of about 30 that I reread instead of finding new tomes. This one in particular seems to be my airplane go-to (that or whatever Vonnegut paperback I haven’t reread in a while). I’m sure if I pushed myself to expand my horizons a bit, then maybe I’d feel comfortable drawing larger eyes for the owl. However, these tiny peepers felt appropriate to my acknowledged narrow vision. Also, as a child of the 70’s, I like ceramic owls, beer tab owls, macrame owls, or any strigine object in general pretty much." -- Rob Jones
