The image is an adaptation from Quatrain XIII of the Illustrated Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, the First edition which was translated by Edward Fitzgerald. Published in 1913.

The illustrator was Edmund J Sullivan.

Look to the Rose that blows about us - " Lo,
Laughing," she says, "into the World I blow:
At once the silken Tassel of my Purse
Tear, and its Treasure on the Garden throw."

Reduction cut, woodblock print.
