Spray Paint on Cupboard Door
184 x 40 cm (72.4 x 15.7 in)
Whereas most Banksy works available on the market nowadays are mainly series of prints, ‘Laugh Now’, 2009, is an exception to this rule: spray-painted by the artist himself on a cupboard door, this artwork has links to Banksy’s famous ‘Monkey’ series, often accompanied by the threatening message ‘Laugh now, but one day we will be in charge’.
The rare medium makes this unique signed work a fundamental, and at the same time incredibly rare piece. Having returned to street art and having abandoned studio art in recent years, Banksy’s works of this type are likely to be unrepeatable.
