In 1980, the Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman College hung an exhibition of Rick Griffin original black and white inked art and titled the show India Ink. This exhibition created a demand for prints of Griffin black and white images that were not readily available. In response to this demand, small numbers of prints were produced to sell to Rick Griffin art collectors at the comic conventions in San Diego and Berkeley. This is one of those prints.
The plan was to use this image on a poster for a follow up India Ink exhibition at another museum, but that never happened.
The paper is thick and has a mottled blue/white coloring.
