Orpheus in Love

Orpheus in control
Strong as a lion
with a heart made of steel
Orpheus, you think you'll be alright.
But you don't know love
and how it has a way of creeping on in
and how it’ll crawl up your skin
and how it’ll invite itself in
And then how
almost effortlessly
and quite suddenly
you’ll no longer be " Orpheus in control"
but instead " Orpheus in love"
just another lovesick lion
soon to fall from above.
But until then, Orpheus
if you find yourself
sitting high on that old shelf
thinking you're better than everyone else
come down, Orpheus
and humble yourself
and eat your pie
with the rest of us.
