The contemporary art world is full of examples of people doing stupid things whilst others declare their actions as clever.
There is a guy who sells simple paintings of dots for up to one million pounds.
There is another guy who painted a can of soup and called it art. Several decades later people still think he was making a bold statement about consumerism yet I have never found any evidence of the guy validating this. It might be he simply thought it was amusing to paint a can of soup and everyone else filled in the gaps.
Anyway, stupid things, here's my go at it:
