A private fan-art commission from the hugely talented UK artist Andy Fairhurst, whose re-imagining of some of the most iconic films and characters of all time as well as his "Nerd's Eye View" series are gaining him increasing recognition in the community.
The print features 8 colors in total, with two of these being gold metallics, to complement the brown inks throughout the piece. We aimed for a warmer color palette for the piece and so chose a heavy, natural paper to complement his color scheme.
As a group we asked Andy to inject as much of the fun, excitement and heroism of the characters and touchstones from the film as possible without overcrowding the composition. We feel he captured the characters perfectly and was able to deftly add in some of our favorite elements like "The Bully Buster", "The Pinchers of Peril", The Fratelli's "Swensen's" stash, the statue of David (with Mikey's Mom's favorite part missing) and of course Sloth's Baby Ruuuuutttthhh!!!!
Those who took part in the commission were really pleased with how this turned out as it encapsulates everything we love about one of the greatest family adventure movies ever.
