This show was curated by our friend and opening photographer, Robbie Lowery, in response to his wife’s diagnosis and treatment of cancer. (Please see his statement below.) The help and support they received prompted Lowery to try to raise some money to help others affected by this horrific disease. As a result, a total of half the profits of all sales (taken from half the artist profit AND half Roq La Rue’s profit) will be donated to three cancer research charities, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are all immensely grateful to the artists who agreed to participate.
Note from Josh:
Many years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. During that time, it was the small things, visits with friends, laughter, flowers and just moments of peace that allowed her to cope with the fear and uncertainty. Fortunately she made it through. That is what the butterflies represent, the small moments that help elevate and lift your mood and spirit, and signify that you are not alone. It may seem impossible but miraculous things do happen.
