Each year the Slowly Downward Manufactory purchases an amount of powdered 23ct gold to turn into a kind of printed mist. This year the print is of a golden solstice avenue, a path between parallel trees whose branches mesh and intertwine.
As the gold is laid down, layer upon layer, the further reaches of the avenue appear to recede into a shimmering distance, a haze of irridescent gold which beguiles the eye.
The print is in a limited edition of 24, and is priced at £250.
The paper is 250gsm Somerset velvet white stock from St Cuthbert’s Mill in Wells, Somerset.
The gold used is 23.5 carat powdered gold from L. Cornelisson & Son of London.
The print is sized 145 mm x 115 mm and the paper is hand-torn to approximately 260 mm x 200 mm.
The print will be carefully packed and delivered flat-packed between plywood sheets, which measure approximately 300 mm x 400 mm.
