Circa 1940's.

A planisphere is a flattened representation of the globe. Depicted are the flight routes served by Air France at the time as well as landmarks and peoples characteristic for the different countries. Note the density of routes to Africa and South East Asia, both areas still colonies under French rule. Surrounding the world map are illustrations pertaining to the astrological signs, the Zodiac, and figures from Greek mythology.
