Lucien Smith and Half Gallery founder Bill Powers were in the midst of installing Smith's exhibition at the gallery when Hurricane Sandy hit. The two roamed New York that night, from the Lower East Side to the galleries of Chelsea. Smith's dark, sometimes funny photographs capture Manhattan in rare ghost town mode. 54 pages. Smith's zine Frankenstorm captures the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy and the subsequent blackout in New York City in October, 2012. Lit by a single photographic flash, images of cars, plants, street signs, downed trees, and pools of brackish water emerge from a glowering and ever-present darkness.
