This is a piece of Scrimshaw depicting a fanciful hot air balloon on the front and a sun-face on the back. It is set on a spike anchored in a block of smooth driftwood. The design is scratched into the surface of the simulated ivory with a needle and then inks are rubbed into the grooves to give it color. This piece measures 1.75" tall by 1" wide.
