Music and fashion have a long history together, so we’re rarely surprised when we hear about new collaborations between artists and fashion designers, labels and retailers. That’s not to say we don’t get excited about these collaborations. We do. And the latest one we’re fixated on is the collaboration between Vans and Pearl Jam, just another in a long list of special releases this year celebrating the 20 year history of the band.
The collaboration features two shoes (see photos below)—a slip-on and a high-top—each with a custom Pearl Jam logo. The PJ20 SK8-Hi features a Ten Club logo (Ten Club is the band’s official fan club), while the slip-on carries a Pearl Jam logo stitched on the heel. We’re a little disappointed by the lack of the signature Pearl Jam ‘stick man,’ but the two styles are nevertheless uniquely Pearl Jam. Each shoe ships in a custom box and include a Vans/Pearl Jam tissue poster in each box. What’s more, these shoes continue the band’s longstanding commitment to charity. The proceeds of every purchase will go toward efforts to build a skate park on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota
