From Gallery 1988: "We’re so excited it’s back! Jason Reitman’s Live Read Series at the LACMA has returned, and tomorrow night the first movie is a HOME RUN. GET IT? HOME RUN! (sad noise)
Tomorrow night a group of Jason’s friends that he casts (they are usually more famous than normal “friendsâ€), all sit around in front of a live audience (with no taping devices allowed at all), and read from a classic script. This month’s movie is Bull Durham.
So far he’s only announced a few castings, including JK Simmons in the role of Skip and David Koechner as Larry (and Gallery homie Jason Mantzoukas as Bobby), so let your imagination run wild for the other parts. It starts tomorrow night at 7:30 PM and like all Live Reads, it’s sold out. BUT, there is always a stand-by line and it’s usually pretty successful if you get there a few hours before.
And above is the new G1988 poster for the event, created by the official “Live Read artist,†who’s done every single sold out edition so far, Matt Owen. It is awesome and the rose goes in the front, big guy.
We will be there, selling the poster, which is 16 x 20 inches, a numbered edition of 100 and $30.00. We’ll be outside, so you don’t need a Live Read ticket to buy one, and we’ll be out there starting at 6 PM. Whatever is left over, goes online the next day at gallery1988.com. Hope to see you there!"
