From the artist, Tom Whalen: "here's my entry for the 2012 edition of gallery 1988's annual pop culture explosion, "crazy 4 cult".
rather than taking place in the sunny confines of los angeles (as past installments have), this year's show opens in the meat packing district of new york city, marking gallery 1988's first east coast venture. i chose to celebrate that venue change by depicting something very near and dear to my heart: giant monsters...specifically, the ones that have frequented NYC over the years.
because it's within striking distance of where i live, i'll be in attendance for the show opening. hope to see some of you folks there.
