This guitar strap was designed by Carson Ellis and made in Chicago by Souldier. It is made of recycled seatbelts from cars, and is embroidered with multiple colors in the stitching. It is embossed with the Decemberists "The King Is Dead" logo on the head of the strap, and has a paper tag on the interior of the strap which is also embossed with the band's name around "The King Is Dead" logo and then numbered XX out of 75. All originals came with a clipped on thick paper tag which, on the front of the tag, had a mermaid playing a guitar at the bottom of the sea with the writing "The Decemberists 100% genuine deluxe state of the art though not actually fit for use under the sea guitar strap" and had written on the back of the strap "The Decemberists Limited Edition Guitar Strap handmade by Souldier 2011 No. XX of 75 (with the edition numbers hand written). This strap was made to sell on the Decemberists summer tour in 2011. Some ended up going for sale on the band's website.
