"Famous Lou's Pizza" by Jesse LeDoux & The Head Light Hotel
"Famous Lou's Pizza" (Est. 1925) is a four-color screen print on laser-cut birch. The artwork was designed by Jesse LeDoux. The buildings were fabricated and printed by Providence's Head Light Hotel.
Years ago our friends at The Head Light Hotel pitched us with an idea : "Laser cut sculptures printed with imagery by our favorite artists." It sounded weird at the time and it still sounded weird three weeks ago when they dropped off the prototype of their first project. But we opened the box, assembled the sculpture, then sat and marveled at its glory for, like, three days straight. It's so simple. Why didn't I think of this? And why am I not eating pizza?
"Famous Lou's Pizza" is their foray into the world of weird-but-amazing assemble-it-yourself screen printed sculpture. The artwork was designed by long-time friend of Tiny Showcase Jesse LeDoux. The sculpture ships flat, you punch out the pieces, you assemble the pieces, and the finished project ends up being pretty much the most perfect collectible piece of art/toy hybrid that we've ever had the chance to daydream about stuffing full of fireworks.
Each piece is hand-numbered with a unique serial number.
Artwork ships flat. Pieces can be punched out and assembled into a building. Before assembly, the artwork measures roughly 10.5" wide by 8.5" high. Once assembled, the building measures roughly 4.75" wide, 4.75" deep, and 3.75" tall.
